Kat and Hounds

The relationship between humans and their pets has existed for thousands upon thousands of years.  What started as a working relationship, has slowly evolved into the modern day dogs and cats as a pure pets.  Our ancient ancestors would likely look at us now and scratch their heads in bewilderment.  To begin with, we name our animals as if they are human. We let them sleep in the house on cushioned beds.  In some cases, we dress them, groom them, brush their teeth, and go into debt trying to extend their short lives through surgery and medicine.

 

There is a simple reason that the relationship has evolved: These animals give us joy. Whether is it a cat purring or a dog’s tail wagging, those of us with pets can feel our spirits rise when our pets are around. My goal as a photographer is to capture that relationship in its simplest form.  It is a thing of beauty.
